LIVESTOCK EXPORT
The Garacad-Galdogob corridor is home to a million-plus Somalis, most of them engaged in a semi-nomadic form of raising livestock. Livestock is generally walked or transported by small trucks to the port of Bosaso in the north of Puntland at around 700 to 900 km from the corridor. This long-distance trek or transportation makes much livestock to become very weak and thin and perish. Also, it increases the cost of animals, which poses a challenge to the business people as well as pastoralists. Taking advantage of the relative stability of the Puntland State of Somalia, Wadaagsan Company wishes to implement the port of Gara’ad via the regional Capital of Galkayo to Galdogob at the border between Somalia and Ethiopia. In this document, the project will be called Gara’ad commercial and fishing Sea Port.
